Child Safety Standards Policy
Last Updated: July 20, 2026
1. Our Commitment to Child Safety
ConfesionsZA maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding the sexual abuse, exploitation, or endangerment of children. We are deeply committed to a digital environment where minors are strictly protected in accordance with local and international laws.
Our policies strictly adhere to South African statutory legislation such as South African Cyber Crimes Act, Children’s Act and international child protection laws, and the Child Safety Standards mandated by major global app marketplaces.
2. Prohibited Content and Conduct (CSAE Standards)
We strictly prohibit any content or behaviour that involves Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). This includes, but is not limited to:
- CSAM: The sharing, uploading, or promotion of Child Sexual Abuse Material (images, videos, or text-based descriptions).
- Grooming: Any behaviour intended to establish an emotional connection with a minor to lower their inhibitions for the purpose of sexual exploitation or abuse.
- Solicitation: Attempting to contact minors for sexual purposes or requesting sexually explicit content.
- Sextortion: Threatening to release sensitive images of a minor to coerce them into any action.
- Cyberbullying, harassment, hate speech, or content inciting violence/self-harm targeting children.

3. Reporting and Feedback Mechanisms
Our Global Community must comply with this policy and report suspected violations immediately. We empower our global community to act as the first line of defence.
- In-App Reporting: Users must report suspicious profiles, messages, or content immediately. Use the "Report" button located on the ellipsis menu of each post on the community feed.
- Priority Review: Reports involving child safety bypass standard queues and are fast-tracked for urgent review and response within 24-48 hours by our global moderation team.
- Feedback: To suggest improvements to our safety protocols, contact our team through the in-app "Contact us" screen.
4. Mandatory Reporting & Law Enforcement Cooperation
In accordance with the South African Cyber Crimes Act 19 of 2020, Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act No. 32 of 2007, the Films and Publications Act No. 65 of 1996 (as amended), and global platform requirements, ConfesionsZA fulfils its mandatory reporting obligations:
- Local and International Reporting: We report all instances of CSAM/CSAE directly to the South African Film and Publication Board (FPB) Cyber Hotline (an active member of the International Hotline Association, INHOPE), the South African Police Service (SAPS), and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline for global jurisdiction enforcement.
- Data Preservation: We preserve all relevant account data, IP logs, and metadata associated with prohibited conduct to assist local and international law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations.
- Account Termination: Any user found engaging in CSAE will be permanently banned, and their device ID will be blacklisted to prevent re-entry.
- Appeals: Users may appeal moderation decisions via in-app support.

5. POPIA & Global Privacy Compliance (Privacy of Minors)
In compliance with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and international data privacy regulations (including COPPA and GDPR):
- Age Gating: ConfesionsZA is strictly intended for users aged 16 and older.
- Data Processing of Minors: Under POPIA, any user under the age of 18 is legally classified as a child. We do not knowingly collect, store, or process personal information from users under the age of 16 without verifiable parental or competent person consent.
- Immediate Deletion: If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under our age threshold without valid consent, that data will be deleted from our servers immediately.
