Confessions ZA × Wet Nose: Making a Difference for Animals

Together, we raised over R30,000 for Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre.

What started as a community drive turned into real support for animals in need. Thanks to the generosity of the Confessions ZA community, we raised R30,017 from 68 incredible donors, surpassing our R30,000 goal.

The funds went directly towards supporting Wet Nose and the animals in their care, helping with shelter running costs, medical treatment and operations, as well as providing food, blankets and essential supplies.

From donations to showing up and spending the day with the animals, this was a reminder of what our community can achieve when we come together. Every rand, every donation and every act of kindness made a difference.

Thank you to everyone who helped us make a tail wag. 🐾💛

This confession stopped us in our tracks.

What started as a deeply personal and painful story quickly became something much bigger. It resonated with people across South Africa, going viral as thousands shared their heartbreak, anger and desire to help.

Within days, we launched a BackaBuddy campaign, and in just 3 days, the Confessions community raised R60,000.

Rather than letting the moment pass, we decided to turn the support into meaningful action. The funds were donated to MamaFlo, a Cape Town based organisation working to fight period poverty and break the stigma surrounding menstruation.

The funds helped us to:

  • Provide sanitary products, including reusable and single use options
  • Host educational workshops
  • Educate both women and men about periods, how they work, why access matters and why menstruation should never be a source of shame

We also wanted to keep the conversation going. We encouraged our community to share their own first period stories, helping to break the silence, normalise the experience and challenge the stigma that still surrounds menstruation.

This was more than just a confession. It showed what can happen when a community chooses empathy over judgement, and action over silence.

Thank you, Confessions family. 💛
